ADRA Romania’s latest humanitarian mission has established the first free dental clinic in Matandani, Malawi, providing essential care to more than 2,289 people in a region that previously had no such service available.
The clinic is the result of a partnership between ADRA Romania, ADRA Malawi, and the Technical School in Matandani, funded by donors in Romania with a budget of roughly 70,000 euros over a three-year implementation period. The project’s goals go beyond a single visit from a dental team — part of its mandate is ongoing community health education, so the benefits continue long after the initial clinic closes.
The dental clinic is one piece of a larger initiative, “Support a Child in Africa,” centered on Matandani Secondary School. The broader project works in two directions: reducing food insecurity for 450 children through improved and more varied nutrition, and increasing access to education by helping cover school fees and housing costs for students from low-income families.
Projects like this reflect ADRA’s wider approach around the world — pairing immediate practical relief with the kind of sustained, community-level investment that outlasts any single visit.
