A two-week evangelistic campaign led by the Central Malawi Conference Women’s Ministry department closed on August 22 with 150 baptisms across four centers in the Kapiri area of Dedza, Malawi — the largest number of baptisms the department has recorded.
The campaign, held August 9–22, focused on communities with little previous exposure to the Seventh-day Adventist Church. About 30 of the 150 baptisms took place in Sitolo Village, which had no Adventist members before the meetings began; church leaders said the response there was the clearest sign the campaign had reached the audience it was designed for, with villagers who weren’t baptized since asking about attending services.
For some who were baptized, the meetings answered a long-held desire. “I have always wanted to be part of the Adventist community, but I did not have the opportunity,” said Thokozani Davison, one of those baptized. “Through attending this crusade, I have finally fulfilled that desire.”
The newly formed congregation at Chikoleza is currently meeting in a temporary shelter, and local leaders have appealed for support to build a permanent structure to accommodate the growing group and sustain further evangelism in the area.
