Thousands of Seventh-day Adventists filled Zimpeto National Stadium in Maputo, Mozambique, on May 23 for the closing day of Impact Mozambique 2026 — a nationwide evangelism and mission initiative that culminated in a day of worship, baptism, and renewed commitment across the country.
The stadium gathering was one of more than 660 baptismal sites active across Mozambique that day, as local pastors and regional church leaders conducted baptisms in oceans, rivers, and lakes throughout the country. At Zimpeto itself, candidates waited under the sun in long lines for their turn, while cheerful worship songs and biblical messages carried across the stadium.
General Conference president Erton Köhler joined a dozen other pastors and regional leaders in personally baptizing candidates at the stadium, standing alongside church members celebrating what organizers described as one of the largest single-day mission efforts in the region in recent memory.
Impact Mozambique 2026 reflects a broader pattern across the Adventist world this year — large-scale, coordinated mission pushes that combine public evangelism with practical service, aiming not just for a single day of baptisms but a renewed, sustained commitment to mission in local congregations long after the stadium empties.
